In the six short years since she gained her REALTOR® license, Amy Menrad has become one of the most successful real estate professionals in Maryland’s Anne Arundel County. Operating out of the Crofton, Maryland office of Champion Realty, Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate, Amy has produced award-winning results through tireless hard work, expanding knowledge and exceptional client service.
With her natural warmth, cheerful demeanor and charming wit, Amy converses easily with individuals from all walks of life. She’s also a keen listener with a talent for discerning the feelings behind people’s words. That ability enables Amy to make special connections with her clients. “Husbands and wives are not always able to express their true feelings about a house to one other.
There’s a lot of unspoken communication and they think that giving up something will make their partner happy. But that’s usually a recipe for disaster,” Amy explains. “I am able to read those signals and say to the couple, ‘I realize what is important to each of you and we’re going to make sure that both of those needs are met.’”
Personalized customer care is a hallmark of Amy’s business. She takes pride in responding to the unique needs of each of her buyers and sellers, thereby freeing them from the anxiety that often develops during real estate transactions. “As a REALTOR®, I act as a kind of therapist or Mother Confessor. Anyone can write a contract, but that’s really the least of what we do. It’s answering the phone when a client calls at eleven o’clock at night with that out-on-the-ledge fear and you have to talk them down. My job is to do the worrying and problem solving for you,” she says.
Direct, person-to-person communication is a priority for Amy. She makes strategic use of the Champion Realty website (www.championrealty.com) and social media platforms like Facebook for marketing and communication, but she says that technology can never take the place of a one-on-one connection. “The REALTOR®/client relationship is one of the most intimate relationships you will have for a short period of time,” states Amy. “The bottom line is do they trust you? Do they value your input and experience? At the end of the day, all of the gadgets go out of the window. It’s all about that personal connection.”
In order to better serve her clients, Amy continuously expands her knowledge and skills through specialized education and training. She has earned several designations for expertise in specific areas of real estate. Amy is certified as a Military Relocation Professional (MRP), Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR), Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES) and as a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), a designation bestowed by the National Association of REALTORS® which is only held by 3% of REALTORS® in the nation. “Each of those designations represents hours of class work. It’s time well spent because it enables me to assist more people facing particular challenges,” Amy points out.
Sharing ideas with other real estate agents is also important to Amy. She is especially proud of her role as State President of the Maryland Women’s Council of REALTORS®. “It’s about helping women become leaders. Some women may still think of themselves as backseat drivers in life so we forge leadership skills, communication skills and we are very strong on professional education.”
With her unique combination of knowledge, diligence, leadership and superior people skills Amy Menrad is making a tremendous impact in the lives of her clients and on the real estate industry.
